Zombie Run is back for year two!

Help DCPTA raise funds for our programming and kick-off Homecoming with the return of Zombie Run at the Duanesburg Elementary School on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 10am-12pm.

A few details have changed this year. Some info to consider:

What's different this year:

  • Both runners and walkers are WELCOMED!

  • Instead of student-athletes serving as "zombies" trying to take the flags from runners, we are working with MyBooster to have students, teachers, athletes and community members run or walk laps around the elementary school track. When runners sign-up, they can pledge a certain donation about per lap ($1/lap, for example) and each person also gets a customized link that can be shared so others can donate for each lap run or walked.

  • For the student-athletes (including all fall modified, JV and varsity teams), DCPTA will log the number of laps each student-athlete runs or walks and will register them with their team. (If a student is on two teams, their laps will count for both teams.) To determine the team that "wins" Zombie Run this year, we will average the number of laps run/walked by the number of athletes on that team, and the team with the highest average "wins."

  • The event window is much shorter this year: instead of four hours, the event is only 10am-12pm and people can run/walk any time during that period.

What stays the same:

  • The winning school sports team gets their name on the Zombie Run plaque in the trophy case in the high school.

  • All participants are asked to dress in their best zombie costume/make-up.

  • Zombie-inspired face painting is available at no cost!

  • The money earned from events during Homecoming (including Zombie Run) helps pay for DCPTA programs, events and grants that benefit both the school/students and our community.

  • Water, Gatorade, light snacks and Homecoming swag available for purchase!
