What is the DCPTA?

Duanesburg Community Parent Teacher Association (DCPTA) is a chartered chapter of the national PTA organization. Its mission is to create an environment in which every child in our community can be reach their full potential through collaboration with families, the school district, community members and local businesses.

What are the benefits of being a part of a national organization?

Being part of the national PTA organization gives our chapter structure, legitimacy, oversight, financial regulations, chapter bylaws, standardized training and affordable insurance coverage. It also grants us nonprofit tax status (501c3), access to national academic programming, scholarship opportunities for students, continuing education for teachers and community members and representation in national and statewide advocacy efforts.

Who can be a member of the DCPTA?

Anyone! DCPTA welcomes membership from parents, teachers, administrators, students, extended family, friends, neighbors, community members and local businesses. Everyone is encouraged to join.

Is there a fee for membership?

Yes. Annual dues for each member is $8.00, although we typically reduce that fee significantly each fall to encourage membership renewals and new memberships. $4.00 from each membership is forwarded to the national PTA organization to fund scholarships, educational opportunities and advocacy efforts. The remainder (less a processing fee) helps to fund DCPTA.

What are the benefits of membership?

Being a member of DCPTA allows you to have a voice in the initiatives, policies and focus of our organization. Your DCPTA membership offers many other benefits, including discounts at businesses such as AARP, Hertz Car Rentals, LifeLock Identity Theft Protection, LifeTouch National School Studios, MetLife, Quicken Loans, TeenSafe Smart Phone Monitoring, Sylvan Learning Center, and many more!
